Day 5: Marble Mountains – Hoi An
The Marble Mountains consist of five limestone peaks named after the five elements (Ngu Hanh) — metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. On Thuy Son Mountain, visitors can explore two ancient temples — Tam Thai and Linh Ung — both built more than a century ago.
Hoi An, formerly known as Faifo, was an important trading port visited by Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian merchants during the 16th and 17th centuries. The town has beautifully preserved its ancient streets lined with narrow tube houses and wooden architecture. Many of these houses feature intricate carvings, parallel sentences, and artistic woodwork. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site, Hoi An is a romantic and nostalgic destination that no visitor to Central Vietnam should miss.
