Asia’s ‘largest’ tulip garden in Srinagar is all set to be opened to the public on March 19, officials announced on Thursday.
An official said that the garden will be opened during a grand ceremony, with over 16 lakh tulips of different varieties expected to bloom this year.
The official added that all preparations have been completed and the concerned department is now putting the final touches on the grand opening.
Commissioner Secretary of the Floriculture department, Sheikh Fayaz, confirmed that the garden will be open to the public on March 19. ‘We hope to see a massive influx of tourists at Asia’s largest tulip garden this year,’ he said.
He also mentioned that a water channel and moving fountains have been added to the garden this year, which will add to its beauty.
Since its opening, the Tulip Garden in Srinagar has become a major tourist attraction in the valley, situated at an altitude of 5,600 feet, and has given a boost to the Tourism department.
