Between the concrete and steel high rises and far from all the hustle of Mumbai, lies the small green belt of Aarey Colony that has a parkland called ‘Chota Kashmir’. The Chota Kashmir Garden and lake are located on opposite sides of the road. The lake has boating facilities and also has been a shooting location for many Bollywood songs.
There is a lotus pond too. Locals visit the garden on weekends as a picnic spot. The garden is visited by both families as well as couples.
Things to do at Chhota Kashmir Mumbai
1. Boating at Chota Kashmir Lake: The lake of Chota Kashmir, spread across an area of 4 acres, is the only water body within the vicinity of Mumbai city where one can go boating, both in a rowboat and paddleboat. Open for visitors all days of the week, the surroundings of the lake is very peaceful due to its location.
2. Chota Kashmir Garden: The garden is located on the other side of the road from the lake. When it would be out of scope for movies to be shot in Kashmir or Shimla due to a variety of reasons in the past, the well-manicured garden of Chota Kashmir would serve as an alternative location for several Bollywood movie songs.
